  • The Man In The Moon.

As promised -- this weekend we got a lot done on Baby Gelly's nursery.  And by "we" I mean my entire family.

My sister, my mom, Kevin and I each worked on it and I am so, so, so happy with the results!  I can't wait to really start adding all the furniture in to see how it will all come together.

Today's entry is about one of the murals my sister did.  This one will be directly above his crib.

Rachel used a projector to project the image I chose onto the wall and then painted it out.  So awesome!  It looks really great I think.

When I used the flash -- it just looked like she was directly painting the wall.   Which she could totally do, actually.

  • Our Unfortunate Holiday Tradition.

It's November!  You know what that means?  It means Thanksgiving!  And Christmas shopping!  And lots of excitement!!

And in our case -- it means a flooded basement.

Remember last year?  Here is your reminder, just in case.

Okay -- well, this year is better than that in that the area that flooded this year is not nearly as big.  (Yay!)  The bad news is that last year we knew the cause for sure -- and this year we're guessing it's because of all the flooding rains we've had in our area.  That is a guess (and I think a pretty good one) but still -- it's a guess.

Wish us luck that we're right and the problem is the ground is saturated from recent flooding and we need to stop all the rains from running down our sloping backyard and coming in our house (landscaper coming tomorrow with advice!)  Fingers crossed!

Well -- we got to enjoy this carpet padding for a little less than a year.  It was a good, dry year most of the time though!

  • Asparagus.

More baby room progress!  This is what got done this weekend -- but this upcoming weekend is the one that I think will be the most drastic change. (So wait for that!)

Anyway, the paint color is called Asparagus -- which kinda made me not want to pick it.  But I got over it and went with the color anyway.

For those of you keeping count -- we now have three brown and one green wall.  More to come!

  • My Two Firsts.

My Huckle is a very loving puppy.  He especially loves to play with his dad and cuddle with his mom.  Usually he hangs out by my legs when I'm lying down.  But this weekend, I think he wanted to cuddle with baby Gelly too.

  • Football Fanatic.

If you know me at all -- you're thinking, "She is?!"

Not that I dislike football -- I like it a lot actually.  But mainly only because it reminds me of my time in marching band, junk food and fall.  So...I like it in a very girly way.  (Although I do totally root for the Georgia Bulldogs when I do watch!)

But in this case, I'm talking high school football.

My station does a big show every Friday in order to cover high school football games in the Atlanta area.  The web department is a huge part of that coverage.  Personally, I am not too involved in it (I work a day shift and focus primarily on the really depressing news coverage .)  But sometimes, I get roped into helping in a number of random ways.

Random way #1 is that every week our high school football main guy gets people around the newsroom to record a little video that people will have to watch in order to cast a vote to bring our football crew out to cover their game.  Every week, I think there are 7 videos (requiring 7 people to tape videos that say "If you want us to come out to the ??? vs. ??? game -- keep clicking this video!")  It's really painful and I actually got out of doing it almost every week...until this one.

Because every week I got out of it by saying "If you don't make me do it this week - next time, I'll write a poem about it."

    Poem about it:

Random way #2 is that we use high schoolers as photographers to cover games we can't get to.  Their video gets used on our website and they get to say they worked for us.  Tonight is the last regular season game, so my co-worker who works with the high school photogs is throwing them a pizza party and he asked me to make cupcakes.  Football cupcakes!

Yes.  These were required for my football cupcakes.
